The word "ABAD" (아바드 / עָבַד) appears 390 times in the Bible and means "to serve through work." In other words, "work" becomes "worship," transforming into "Work as Worship." Similarly, the concept of BAM (Business as Mission) emphasizes that business (work) becomes "Mission" as it is transformed through our practice. In this way, business itself becomes "Mission" through our actions.

Our Story

Today, in BAM ministry, a missionary’s identity is no longer just about being called a “missionary.” It is closely connected to how we live as members of society in that place. Many mission fields are still economically poor, or they are developed but have strong religious and cultural barriers. In these contexts, people no longer easily relate to the identity of a “missionary.”

At the same time, this does not mean that a missionary identity is no longer important. Rather, it needs to be expressed in a way that people can understand and connect with.

In reality, the most common questions we hear are, “What is your job?” or “Why did you come here?” These are not just simple questions. They are asking, what role you have in this society and how you live your life. It is also a cultural and social response to understand outsiders. Now, a missionary is not just someone who shares a message, but someone whose life itself explains who they are.

What matters now is not living as an outsider, but becoming part of the society. We are called to contribute to the community through our role and skills, build trust through relationships, and live as people who help one another. In this kind of life, the gospel is no longer a strange message, but becomes something people can understand through real life.

BAM begins with a unified life. Work and faith are not separated. The gospel is shown through our relationships, responsibilities, and daily choices. Sharing Jesus is not only about speaking, but about living in His way. And this life itself becomes the most powerful witness of the gospel
